CPD Plus: Sexuality and Intimacy in Aged Care

This course explores sexuality and intimacy as lifelong aspects of health, wellbeing and identity, recognising that older adults have the same rights to relationships, privacy, dignity and self-expression as people of any age. You will explore the importance of intimacy in later life, common barriers within aged care, consent and decision-making capacity, and appropriate responses to changes in sexual behaviour associated with dementia. The course also promotes culturally safe, inclusive and respectful care for residents of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities, supporting a person-centred approach that protects dignity, choice and wellbeing.
